Lousy earthquake
Its been 2 days and the internet's just coming back up. The earthquake really came at a bad time, just as i finished the stp selection test (which i dont think i will get into with so many questions leaving blank) i thot i could start playing again and the earthquake came. Totally unable to use the internet in the morning yesterday and could barely survive the slow connection speed at night while i could only looking hopelessly in the forums at players from other parts of the world enjoy the christmas event held by silkroad. :(
Ohh, today i did the powerpoint on the Shanghai attachment for next year's assembly. (Really hope i dont need to present though XD ) Anyway this reminded me that im not done with the Shanghai trip journal posts. So i shall continue.
Day 3
Erm nothing much happened today. We went to the office in the morning and had a long chat with Jeff about how we can go about doing the dossiers and the website and then he taught us a few important lessons on how to be a service provider and some tips on improving service attitude. Then we spent the whole day in the office working on our on stuff but after awhile it turned into a gaming session with ernest and charles dotaing with each other and harry playing a soccer game. LOL.
Then around 5 we decided to go back as everyone basically had done enough work and had enough fun. Then just as we reached home, we realised that it was harry's birthday that day and not tomorrow (earlier he said that his birthday was on saturday), so we all went out to a nearby starbucks and had a small celebration for him while enjoying the nice ambience in starbucks, watching the nightscene and had a really fun chat with Mr Lim and the others for almost 2 hours before we went back.
Day 4 and 5
The first weekend in shanghai and its our days off!!
We decided to go to the pearl tower then the bund and the nanjing walking street. It was also the first time we are going out by ourselves taking the mrt in a foreign land. So i was quite excited. So we took a taxi to the nearest mrt station (shanghai is so big and the taxis so cheap its not worth it to walk) and bought some tickets from the tickets vending machines which looks so similar to singapore's ones. Then we went down to the mrt platform and was quite surprised, the mrt system looks very very similar to the singapore mrt system. Then there was also alot of differences. There are lots of people giving out fliers which are like business cards so the people would stand at the escalators and literally shoot the cards to you if you dont take or try to secretly stuff some into your bag when you walk pass them. Then there are also those who would walk in the mrt train and shoot the cards to anyone sitting causing the floor to be spammed with those cards which people just throw on the floor.
We reached the pearl tower and took a walk around the tower. However the tower was totally enclosed and we had to buy a ticket just to get close to the tower, like some kind of entrance fee. Then we also had to pay 20 bucks just to take the lift up the pearl tower, so we decided against going to the tower but instead started spamming photos of the place from outside. Then as were walking back there was this person who was trying to sell harry a pearl tower souvenir (similar to the one boonie got for me from chinatown :P ) when harry only walked by and took a glance. Initially the price was 100 yuan for 2 models of the tower then harry just continued to walk daoing the lady trying to sell him the model and the price dropped real quick from 100 to 50 tp 20 and finally to 5 yuan for both. The lady was freaking desperate and keep on shouting prices at harry following him for quite a distance. We were like OMG 5 yuan for both how much is their profit margin?! But sadly harry was totally uninterested even with the 5 yuan offer so he went up to the lady and said "wo bu yao" and just walked off. LOL. we thought he would have walked to buy from the lady then shouted out the prices loudly to spoil the market for the other 100 people selling the same stuff in the area.
Then we wanted to go to the nanjing walking street but it turned out we could not find it even with a tourist map and we spent the whole afternoon lingering around nanjing but never actually finding the street. In the end we ended in a park called the ren min gong yuan or something like that and that park apparently is the place where alot of parents mingle with each other and try to find husbands and wives for their own children. So we were like the odd one out and the people there were all like staring at us XD In the end we still did not managed to find the walking street even after 3 hours of walking around the area then was forced to take shelter in shopping malls when the rain came and we witnessed the vast population china had. In the whole shopping mall there wasn't any seats available, even all the fast food outlets and starbucks and coffeebean were full, not even one seat left. So we were forced to take the mrt back to give our legs some rest.
Thats all for now. Hope the internet connection will be back up soon.
